We all love to create. However, for some of us, painting and/or drawing is not our forte. And for those who do enjoy painting and/or drawing, sometimes it’s difficult to find the time to begin a project. Coloring is the perfect creative quick-fix for anyone. It’s a time to experiment with color and to express your moods with color in an effortless, convenient and affordable way.
Coloring books for adults is an offspring of art therapy which is a mental health profession that is the process of making and creating artwork which intends to ”explore feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, reduce anxiety and increase self-esteem” (according to the American Art Therapy Association). So basically, it’s similar to good old therapy. Also, art therapy is not only about mental health and improving yourself – it’s a form of personal expression, as well.
The first book we purchased had 39 pictures of mandala drawings. A small box of basic coloring pencils started our adventure. We worked with the primary colors of red, orange, blue, green, violet. black, white, and a few other tints which were in the small box. The initial starting stage began with the techniques of our elementary school years. The instructions included the color wheel which we started paying attention to after getting bored with the basic colors.
The awesome part is that anyone can do it will no skill set required! Grab a crayon and you are good to go. You can make it even more enjoyable and have your kids or grandkids color with you. Depending on the age of the young ones they may be interested in the adult coloring books, others still wanting to color a cow, astronaut, or pretty flower arrangement.
Yes, absolutely, there are so many websites there that offer biblical pages for free. But with free option you would get limited number of pages. If you opt for paid services for coloring sheets, you would get access to the finest drawings and large number of options to choose from for printing.
You can’t paint? Well, you can always color! Many people (including me) have the same problem – they’re full of creative energy but can’t scribble a doodle. And it does make me feel bad sometimes, when I feel the need to let it all out but don’t really know how. Blank pages make me feel even worse.
(You can also search the Web for the many sites which offer free, printer-friendly coloring pages.)
