In a world full of digital advancement, it’s a privilege to access natural beauty and make the most of it. Playground structures in the modern times are more inclined towards installing different types of outdoor playground equipment. They do benefit kids in terms of maintaining physical health, but they aren’t as beneficial as natural playgrounds.
Younger kids love to play in the dirt, but you may not really want to accumulate all that extra laundry. A built in sand pit makes for a perfect alternative. A good landscaping contractor can help here, creating a permanent pit that just needs a lid placed over it when not in use and the occasional topping up or replacement of the play sand.
While well out of the budget for many, a pool can still be within reach if you check out some of the affordable above-ground pools. And kids don’t need an Olympic-sized swimming pool to have a little fun splashing around in the heat of summer. This type of addition to your makeshift playground can really make or break any yard.
How much space do you have in your backyard? If you have a large yard, there is no concern. Many new homes, however, have limited backyard space. You should not place kids playground equipment up close to any structure they could fall and injure themselves on. Fences, trees and the home itself should be six to nine feet from the playset for proper safety precautions. While a playground should not be set too close to a fence, it is often desirable to make sure you have a fenced in yard if you choose to install a play area. If you live near a busy street, it becomes even more important in preventing excited children from running into the street.
Other possible safety hazards are introduced by bolts or other protrusions that may catch a child’s clothes or skin.
Even as time goes by, you should always check around the playground and clean up a little bit, checking for trash or hard objects that may have been dropped. Even water puddles can be a danger as they may alter the consistency of the surface fill-not to mention harbor bacteria if the water stands too long.
