Some of the best surfaces are composed of some type of loose material. This may include sawdust, wood chips, gravel, or mulch. Rubber has also become a commonly used material, and it may come in the form of large mats or it may be shredded.
A well planned construction will save lot of cash as well as enable all kids to play safely in winters, spring, autumn, and summer. Understanding teenagers and placing right play-stuff at right areas will be beneficial. Some areas covered at corner of the playground to construct will give a sigh or relief for all grandparents who exercise at grounds and look out for a place to relax at times.
Many injuries that happen on a playground or around a playset have to do with the integrity of the surface, as children often fall off of or jump from equipment, fall when running, and most likely roughhouse on the ground.
The term natural playground implies structures that use natural materials and existing topology to design a play area that promotes open-ended play. The existing topology includes trees, rocks, logs, water, and other natural elements that can be utilized for children’s playing. The reason why I am emphasizing on natural playgrounds is they stimulate creativity among children. Below are some of the most effective reasons to consider.
Probably the best protective surface to use is rubber playground tiles, also known as playground mats. Rubber playground tiles are great because you can get many different thicknesses, from 1” to 4 1/4”. This is great because the CPSC has a statistic called the ”Critical Height of Playground Equipment”, which is the highest point that kids can get to on any piece of playground equipment. Once you know the critical height, you can figure out the thickness of playground tiles or mulch that’s needed for that area.
We should check playground equipment for protruding portions, sharp edges or points, or open ”S” hooks that can cause injury or trap clothing. We should also check for equipment areas that can pinch or crush a small finger or hand.
