The playground structure differs depending upon size, age, level of skill, modularity and the functions. Besides outdoor structures most of the playgrounds offer indoor playground facilities as well. However, in such condition the indoor playgrounds are much smaller, flexible and modular when compared with outdoor playground structures. Most often playground structures comprise of equipments such as floor mats which can either be made of rubber or carpet. Such mats are also often woven and dyed to form mazes, puzzles and games. Some of the popular floor mat games include racetrack and tic-tac-toe.
Recycled rubber products are used in many indoor and outdoor environments. They prove to be especially efficient in playground settings, home gyms, health clubs, and other sports facilities. But, that is not all. Playground rubber flooring has many other amazing qualities, which include:
We should not keep play structures close to each other. It is recommended that play structures more than 30 inches high are spaced at least 9 feet apart so when children fall down, they don’t get injured by the nearby structures.
Younger kids love to play in the dirt, but you may not really want to accumulate all that extra laundry. A built in sand pit makes for a perfect alternative. A good landscaping contractor can help here, creating a permanent pit that just needs a lid placed over it when not in use and the occasional topping up or replacement of the play sand.
Wood chips, mulch, sand, pea gravel, or mats made of safety-tested rubber are the recommended materials for surfacing. Concrete, asphalt, and blacktop are unsafe. Grass, soil, and packed-earth surfaces might be soft enough to caution a child’s fall, but they do not make good long-term protective surfacing because they get eroded over time.
Grass is not thick enough to provide the padding needed, and the soil underneath poses just as many problems as raw soil. As the grass wears away where the most running occurs, it might as well be raw dirt anyhow.
