5. Develop Motor Skills
First, ensure that the flooring on the playground makes for reducing the effects of a fall rather than worsening it. This can be done by building the floor using woodchips. Avoid the use of hard surfaces such as grass, sand, and asphalt as they will exacerbate the effects of a fall. There are better surfaces such as rubber mulch.
Other possible safety hazards are introduced by bolts or other protrusions that may catch a child’s clothes or skin.
Some playgrounds are also simple soil or grass, but this comes with problems as well. Soil becomes hard-packed over time, especially with children running around on it, and in the long run it may even end up as hard as asphalt.
Another best idea is to have a separation of all the activities in the play area including a separate place for the pretentious activities like home or school for the enjoyment of kids. There has to be space allocation for playing with sand and water. While this may apply to you or not based on the space allocation you are having for the play area.
