Joslin Sofia February 19, 2021 mandala coloring
The first book we purchased had 39 pictures of mandala drawings. A small box of basic coloring pencils started our adventure. We worked with the primary colors of red, orange, blue, green, violet. black, white, and a few other tints which were in the small box. The initial starting stage began with the techniques of our elementary school years. The instructions included the color wheel which we started paying attention to after getting bored with the basic colors.

In Sanskrit, ”Mandala” means ”circle”. It is not the shape of a circle, but the symbol of completeness. It reminds us that our mind, body and the world beyond are interconnected.
A Transpersonal Experience
I would like to advice every parent out there to make use of this method.
If you’ve ever kept a diary, you know how therapeutic the experience can be. There’s something really wonderful about being able to go back and see the changes over time as you grew as a person, and the act itself is healing. Did you know that you can do journaling using mandala drawings too? Or, try out some mandala coloring books. Jung was famous for doing a mandala journal where he kept many mandalas and they would later influence his understanding of psychology. Jung believed that the mandala was a symbol of the whole Self, and that the various stages of individuation could also be read within the symbol of the mandala.
