Here are some interesting ideas you might want to try for your kids’ home playground:
One of the first things you want to check for is deterioration of any kind, whether from weather or wear and tear. Broken equipment can cause unnecessary hazards, and weather can have a devastating effect on certain materials over time. Plastic, for example, will become brittle when exposed to extreme cold or sunshine. Metal can corrode or rust. Wood, which is the most durable, is even subject to some splintering and cracking-it’s isn’t indestructible.
Ease of use can go both ways because the ease of use can be how you put it together which for the one that my play set for my children the box said it would take ten hours, but little did I suspect it would take what seemed like ten years! In reality it was only three days. However, the other ease of use that you will want to take into consideration is how easy will your kids be able to climb up on certain parts of it and how easy it will be for them to play on the set.
Possibilities for injuries to occur in a playground come sometimes from the equipment itself-for instance, deteriorating materials, unsafe designs, and unstable surfaces-but a lot of the injuries that occur are the result of unsafe or careless actions. The good thing about this is it puts it well within you and your child’s control.
Sliding equipment or slides are the traditional part of the playground and include both individual slides and add-ons to any sort of jungle gym or climbing frame. Nowadays the more popular slides include everything from bumpy, curvy and twisty slides as well as ones topped with a tunnel. As one of the most popular pieces of playground apparatus, it is essential piece for any good playground.
Therefore spending lots of money on buying very expensive playground equipments is not a guarantee of the child’s safety when he or she is using it. In fact statistics show that over two hundred thousand accidents resulting from injuries and wounds sustained in the playgrounds are treated annually. This rounds up to over five hundred occurring on a daily basis. Injuries that can be sustained from using the playground equipments include joint dislocations, bone fractures, concussions occurring as a result of the head hitting the ground and a host of others.
