Crayons… they are something that everybody has loved at one time or another. I can still remember the excitement of opening up a new box for the first time and seeing all of the colors lined up in a perfect row. Every tip was new and unbroken, making coloring that much more exciting. Careful consideration was used on which crayon to color with first. Was it going to be basic blue or red, or maybe one of the more exotic Crayola colors like purple mountain’s majesty or macaroni and cheese? No matter what color a child may use, it has been shown that coloring with crayons, whether in a coloring book or just on a piece of paper, can really be important in the life of a child.
My daughter is developmentally delayed and autistic, which is very sad, yet at the same time there are many joys. She loves coloring, even as a teenager she has a very large box of coloring books of many types. She loves crayons, especially the new scented crayons; these are crayons that leave behind a scent after you color with them. They have some really good scents such as roses and linen, but most of them smell, well yucky, to me. They have scents such as dirty sneakers, wet dog, and other unusual scents.
I must admit that personally I bought into this concept hook, line and sinker. When my two older daughters were small, I colored with them, and enjoyed doing it. I never realized the calming effect it had on both the girls and me.
There are not too many people who can say they haven’t been raised to utilize and recognize the Crayola crayons. In fact, the Binney & Smith company have noted that studies show that approximately 98% of American consumers recognize the brand of crayola crayons. Are you one of them?
Made of a mixture of charcoal and oil, records of what were probably the first crayons are found in Europe. Later, the oil was replaced with wax making sticks that were less messy and easier to handle.
Seek to understand what is real on a level that humanity can not comprehend at this moment. The native in Africa, the tribes throughout the planet, which many view as poverty stricken have a peace, and calmness, and acceptance, which brings about even a brighter hue than those who are caught up in the day to day existence of gaining financial freedom. True freedom is looking, loving and appreciating all that is. Look with your heart, seek to see yourself as we see you. Look not with a physical eye, not with a physical body, but seek to understand that which is truly you, a colored rainbow of truth, compassion and acceptance. You are a radiant and expanding spectrum of light.
