If you’ve ever kept a diary, you know how therapeutic the experience can be. There’s something really wonderful about being able to go back and see the changes over time as you grew as a person, and the act itself is healing. Did you know that you can do journaling using mandala drawings too? Or, try out some mandala coloring books. Jung was famous for doing a mandala journal where he kept many mandalas and they would later influence his understanding of psychology. Jung believed that the mandala was a symbol of the whole Self, and that the various stages of individuation could also be read within the symbol of the mandala.
Coloring is being used in formal therapeutic settings such as eye-hand coordination development and to help heal victims of trauma. Regardless of your needs, there is so much to be gained by spending some time coloring.
You may find that you have outgrown crayons and want to color using something with a different texture and a different feel. Pencil crayons and felt pens are an affordable alternative. But you may want to spend a bit of extra money and try colored pencils, Conte Crayons, oil pastels, pastels or watercolor pencils.
Step Two: Flip through a coloring book and pick the first design that peaks your interest. I offer some free sample pages on my website (listed below) that have been designed specifically for active meditation.
The following is how I would normally make use of the pictures.
The mandalas represent a unique interconnection of the inner awareness to the whole universe thus allowing the person to search for answers within oneself by focusing on his sub consciousness, allowing the creative mind to take over while consciousness breaks free from the process. Mandala tapestries, the unique wall hangings of these mandala designs thus help the individual in liberating himself from the outside world of chaos and focus on the inner energy present within himself. These mandala tapestries are designed to be visually appealing to the busy mind and hence individuals use as wall hangings for assisting in focusing their inner mind from the buzzing outside world. It is easy to get lost in the unique designs and colors of the mandala tapestries allowing the viewer to swim in their own intuitive world of sub consciousness creating a feeling of calmness and composure in the psyche.
