Setting Boundaries – If your backyard currently lacks a good boundary system – a fence or hedges – make sure that they are added during the construction of the playground. These boundaries keep the kids in and strangers out as well as defining the area of play.
There are five main categories of playground equipment; sliding, spinning, balancing, hanging and climbing. The best playgrounds use a combination of these to provide children with a multitude of different stimulus which helps them to learn a variety of skills. Playground equipment suppliers can usually help you decipher which products will provide a great combination of apparatus to ensure all skills are catered for. Play equipment is a fantastic way for children to learn skills such as coordination and balance in a safe environment, in their own time and under no pressure.
Many injuries that happen on a playground or around a playset have to do with the integrity of the surface, as children often fall off of or jump from equipment, fall when running, and most likely roughhouse on the ground.
Check out those big trampolines they have available these days for another thrill-center in your yard. Children love trampolines, and models like we couldn’t have imagined in our childhood are available these days at prices that will really blow your mind. Make sure that you follow all the safety requirements and keep children from jumping more than one at a time because there are some serious risks involved with using a trampoline improperly.
Watch the surface of the playground. Not only should you check for presence of broken glasses and the like, but also if the surface is slippery for being watered.
