2. Is the playground equipment structurally safe?

Probably the best protective surface to use is rubber playground tiles, also known as playground mats. Rubber playground tiles are great because you can get many different thicknesses, from 1” to 4 1/4”. This is great because the CPSC has a statistic called the ”Critical Height of Playground Equipment”, which is the highest point that kids can get to on any piece of playground equipment. Once you know the critical height, you can figure out the thickness of playground tiles or mulch that’s needed for that area.

We should make sure that play structures like swings and seesaws must have a protective surface of at least 12 inches underneath them and at least 6 feet in all directions to prevent serious injuries in cases of fall. For swings, surfacing should extend twice the height of the suspending bar front and back.

Easy maintenance – Playground rubber flooring can be used both indoors as well as outside. Rubber flooring resists dust, allergens and even water. This means that liquid spills will not damage the floor surface. Because of its high resistance, mold and fungi will not be able to anchor to your floors either. You can sweep your playground floor, or wash it with a mild soapy solution. Never use harsh cleaning agents or chemicals.

Ease of use can go both ways because the ease of use can be how you put it together which for the one that my play set for my children the box said it would take ten hours, but little did I suspect it would take what seemed like ten years! In reality it was only three days. However, the other ease of use that you will want to take into consideration is how easy will your kids be able to climb up on certain parts of it and how easy it will be for them to play on the set.

First, keep the age of the children that will be playing on the equipment in mind before you decide on one model over another. A toddler’s playground will be quite different from a school-aged child’s. Children become more capable as they grow and more able to handle a large set of equipment. If you have children at both these ages, never fear. It is easy to find equipment that has toddler swing accessory options so everyone can play at the same time. As your children grow, you can make needed additions and alterations to the kids playground so it continues to grow as your children do.
